Artist-in-Residence honors the people of Malaga Island
This fall, painter, author, and illustrator Daniel Minter offered his gift of visual storytelling to the displaced community of a historical island off Maine’s coast. Reflecting themes of spirituality in the Afro-Atlantic world and the meaning of home, Minter’s exhibition and community events showcased how art serves to connect us with the past, our present-day culture, and each other.

USM receives $1 Million gift to launch Center for Digital Science and Innovation

USM, UMaine System address state-wide nursing workforce crisis
The University of Maine system, and USM, are responding to a state-wide nursing workforce shortage with a plan to double nursing enrollment, expand nursing programs into high-need communities, and provide free nursing education for students with greatest financial need — funded in part by a $12 million investment as part of the University Workforce Bond.
